It has been a long time since I posted anything from one of my favorite artists.....the French music and beauty icon Francoise Hardy so I thought I would share one of my favorite compilations of her work.
The Vogue Years compiles some of the work from Francoise's early career (which in my opinion is her best) and puts it together in one great compilation. These are the songs that brought her to stardom making her an international icon and making everyone from The Rolling Stones to Bob Dylan wish they could call her "their girlfriend". For anyone who has never heard any of the great music Francoise or 60's French pop and ye-ye in general have to offer than this album will make a great introduction. Likewise this album is great for anyone who may already know Francoise Hardy and her music but just want to have it compiled in two great CD's.

从Eva Green 回归到Francoise Hardy 2004 年 9 月
近年已很少上电影院看新片了，不知是不是因为一生人必须要看的电影早已看得八八九九，而有水準的新片，至少我觉得，也是凤毛麟角，以前看电影有如朝圣的感觉早已成过去，现在是消磨时间多於一切。
在今日寻回过去
不过当黎海宁有点异常的兴奋去推荐贝托鲁奇的新作《戏梦巴黎》(The Dreamers) 时，我竟会有想上电影院看的衝动。当然贝托鲁奇 (Bernardo Bertolucci) 在影史上绝对有他的地位，所以即使他的近作 Stealing Beauty 是如何老态毕露，他 1970 年的经典 The Conformist 在当时确是技惊四座，那些不止是行云流水，已差不多可以说是魔幻、鬼魅般的镜头运动，看得我目瞪口呆，至今仍在我的脑海裏挥之不去，也许是这个缘故，今次我竟破例去百老匯电影中心看了这部片。

《戏梦巴黎》确实是一部令我满意，赏心悦目的小品，它以 1968 年巴黎电影图书馆和当年那场学运作为背景，已足够满足我的怀旧及对巴黎的情意结，但无论怎样，我确是完全没有任何心理準备，会看到片中的女主角 —— Eva Green 这样有型的女性。

世界这么大，过去十多二十年欧美影坛无疑是涌现了各式各样身材高挑、美丽、摄人、酷，有著欧陆文艺气息的女明星。身材高挑、美丽的多的是，摄人、酷也不是没有，但像 Eva Green 般同时又有文艺气息就罕见了，还有是她的眼神，令人摸不著是在挑逗，抑或是在挑战你！我在想，英国的 Tilda Swinton 也很型，但稍欠美艳，美国的 Uma Thurman 没有什么 presence，而且缺少了一种文艺气质，而欧洲近年的女星，亦鲜有像 Eva Green 给人那种很 striking 的感觉。

有时我怀疑，像 Eva Green 这种类型，是不是属於一个不再时兴的 icon，一种很六七十年代的审美标準？要找与 Eva Green 那种类型女明星，似乎真的要去回七十年代走红像 DominiqueSanda ，和 Charlotte Rampling 那样的「型女」。
七十年代型女代表
Dominique Sanda 至少有两部电影是她作为「型人」的代表作，一是意大利新写实主义大师 Vittorio de Sica 的晚期杰作 The Garden of the Finzi-Continis，她演一个在法西斯时期意大利的犹太裔千金小姐，与她的哥哥 (由当年俊得令人目眩的 Helmut Berger 饰演) 关係之曖昧，简直和现时《戏梦巴黎》里面那对孪生兄妹同样令到人扑朔迷离；她另一部代表作是刚才所提及过贝托鲁奇的The Conformist，当年我们被此片迷倒，或多或少都因为有 Dominique Sanda 惊艳的演出，她美丽、神秘、高贵、酷，和片中另一女主角 Stefania Sandrelli 跳探戈一场的气氛、调度、节奏、视觉张力都远比贝托鲁奇下一步作品《巴黎的最后探戈》（Last Tango in Paris）的几场探戈场面出色得多。

可惜 Dominique Sanda 第二次与贝托鲁奇合作 1900 时，变得有点过份刻意去型，例如咬雪茄，已经不复以前般自然，而之后她的事业急转直下，已很久再没有她的消息了。
Charlotte Rampling 在现时炙手可热的法国导演 Ozon 欣赏下，近年有一个小小的 comeback。在六十年代 Charlotte Rampling 只是美丽，直至维斯康提（Luchino Visconti）找她演The Damned，才发掘到她高贵、elegant 的一面。1974 年她主演的 The Night Porter，裏面有极具震撼的 S&M 性爱场面，将她的冰冷阴暗的一面彻底发挥出来，她那对清澈的蓝眼珠，蕴藏了多少曖昧、神秘，甚至残酷！不过我最倾倒的 Rampling 是她在活地·亚伦（Woody Allen）1980 年的 Stardust Memories，片中那个奇特的微笑，那股成熟的魅力，那份对自己得天独厚的美丽的自信，至今我仍难忘！近年她在 Ozon 的电影依然有 presence，但没有了青春，剩下的只是一潭死水，和当年一出场就令人怦然心动，怎能比？

写到这裹，我不禁想到一位六十年代的型女 —— Francoise Hardy，在英语国家（香港也算是吧！）也许没有很多人认识她，她是在六十年代冒出来的一位法国 singer/songwriter，到现时依然活跃乐坛。当年她一把金髮，一个木结他迷到万千歌迷。她的美比起上述两位女演员，来得更简单、直接，没有那些复杂心理因素，而多了一丝波希米亚的不羈。你上网上任何一个 search engine，都会找到无数她的网页，看到无数她的照片。

今年春夏季的时候，trench coat 大行其道，却委实很少有人穿乾湿褸可以穿到像 Francoise Hardy 般有型。有次我在髮型屋看 Vogue 杂誌，一位作者亦有撰文怀念 Francoise Hardy 穿 trench coat 那个 icon。她有份演出的电影 Grand Prix，她演一名赛车手的女友，很多场都是穿著一件 trench coat，凌乱的长髮被微风吹起，你猜不透她内心在想什么，她有没有化妆？她穿什么名牌？一切都不重要，青春应该就是这样的吧。在那一刻，她的美是醉人的，亦有幸被菲林永远保存著，见证著。即使偶然想起，亦令人有一阵惆悵。
回头说 Eva Green，有没有人能告诉我，她的「型」是不是过时的「型」呢？或者换句话说，二十一世纪初的今天，能容得下她吗？

More so even than her countryman and fellow pop star Serge Gainsbourg did in the 1960s, Francoise Hardy synthesized mainstream pop and rock elements into her take on the French chanson tradition. Influenced by Phil Spector's girl-group sound and the loungy, orchestral pop of commercial radio, Hardy's music of the 1960s is dense and breezy at once, marked by lush, hip production and the chanteuse's measured, bittersweet vocals. Françoise Hardy was one of my favorite icons of the '60's, with her sweet clear voice, her songwriting talent, and her incredible style. She just oozed style. Eventually getting bored with the life fame brought her, she followed her own path out of the limelight, but these songs from the "ye ye" years of international stardom are a treat for her fans.
Though some of the early tracks have less than perfect production and backup musicians, it's a terrific overview of her early career. She penned 40 of the 50 songs on this CD set, and some of them are beauties. "L'amour ne dure pas Toujours", "La Nuit est sur la Ville", "Voila", and many more.
There's a gentleness and a simplicity to these songs that delights me, and her voice, though limited, is expressive and appealing. The booklet insert is excellent, with lots of photos, a bio, and detailed song info...to quote from it, "...the Françoise Hardy of the mid sixties still looks and sounds truly modern", and I agree wholeheartedly.
