Richard Beirach
从他灌录的唱片来看,Trio,东风(EastWind)一直到去年Venus出品的“What is this Thing Called Love”都是日本的爵士大厂牌。 爵士批评家Chuck Berg(DownBeat 和 JazzTimes的评论作者,美国的电影艺术教授)跟David Liebman与Beirach合作出版一本《Lookout Farm:小爵士团体的即兴演奏个案研究》,但其后对Richie Beirach在ECM的个人作品《Eon》仅仅有限的表示了一下鼓励:“… intense reworking … ably assisted by the excellent musicianship of his colleagures from LookOut Farm (…

Description of item
From a genealogy of the work of Beirach of remains now this album a little it can be said that the different color is, was recorded in accordance with the best musicians in the trio of George Mraz ( Billy Hart (ds). But, it is finished in a different tone and Beirach until now full of clarity in relation to the mastering. This time, the finished work of stodgy 50-60's Piano Trio specific directions. However, still, is to demonstrate the true value in the modal songs such as "Pinocchio," "Nardis"
BREAKDOWN
Jazz version of "Nomura recycling plant" specific Venus is really good eye point aimed. Beirach is a pianist who is in the place of one step now in terms of assessment and popularity while there is talent. That he give an imitation of representing the beautiful touch and reasonable passion of Evans like here. (Takashi) (from the CD journal database)

I've been waiting for these three Japanese trios CDs to come out here in the states. Didn't care to spend $35 for them. And here they are....sort of. Read the product info carefully (which I didn't,) and you will see this is a cdr format, not factory pressed. Got my order and I say the packing is pretty good, ie you get a normal jewel box and all the inserts, except maybe what was originally in the fold out. No dates are any information except track length is given.
The music is superb-this is a burning and and powerful trio that shares a similar vision. It is an extremely coherent performance all the way through. Billy Hart and George Mraz really lay it down, showing a lot of empathy for Richie Beirach's personal style. What a treat, especially their 21'st century version of Nardis.
Sound quality is very good but I still wonder if the original Japanese pressings were better. The surface of these cdrs seems more silvery than the ones I burn-perhaps a technology is being used that increases the life of the disc. I would still be careful with these as they do seem prone to scratches.
Verdict: if you want to save some money and get into these three re-releases, this is by far the most economical way to do it-but caveat emptor: you do get what you pay for. And make backups.
