Complices in their work for fifteen years, Sophie Rudaz Mudry and Grégory Scalesia propose an atypical duo: piano and guitar. In search of a balance, they develop over the years a finesse and a lightness in their listening and their interpretation which gives their repertoire a subtle and singular character.
In 2008, they founded the PerlaMusica association, organizing their first concerts with chamber orchestra, the Louis Moret Foundation in Martigny, and the Vidondee in Riddes. In 2010 they reworked the concertos of Aranjuez, Bach and Beethoven for a brass ensemble, a rich experience where the two virtuoso Valaisans were able to offer the public, with small ensembles, important works, usually reserved for large rooms. An initiative particularly appreciated and welcomed with enthusiasm.
PerlaMusica also chose to give herself full freedom to better meet her audience. By equipping a bus with a stage and a piano, Sophie and Grégory crisscross the Valais, France and Spain, giving their singular repertoire to be heard. Since 2011, they have also been offering, in partnership with the Sion Media Library, music readings that are still gaining popularity with the Sédunois public. These readings are the result of a collaboration with the actors and directors Hélène Cattin and Fred Mudry.
In April, they released their first CD entitled "Fantaisie", under the Swiss label Claves. For his vernissage, they will present a repertoire of music of the twentieth century, essentially written for guitar and piano. This evening will take the form of a show where they will collaborate with the Valaisan painter Grégoire Putallaz-Knupfer who will create, from the music of Fantaisie, different works related to its rhythm and its color. Complices dans leur travail depuis quinze ans, Sophie Rudaz Mudry et Grégory Scalesia proposent un duo atypique : piano et guitare. En quête d’un équilibre, ils développent au fil des années une finesse et une légèreté dans leur écoute et leur interprétation qui donne à leur répertoire un caractère subtil et singulier.
En 2008, ils créent l’association PerlaMusica, et organisent leurs premiers concerts avec orchestre de chambre, à la Fondation Louis Moret à Martigny, ainsi qu’à la Vidondée de Riddes. En 2010, ils réorchestrent pour un ensemble de cuivres les concertos de Aranjuez, Bach et Beethoven, une expérience très riche où les deux virtuoses valaisans ont pu offrir au public, avec de petites formations, des oeuvres importantes, réservées normalement à de grandes salles. Une initiative particulièrement appréciée et accueillie avec enthousiasme.
PerlaMusica choisit aussi de se donner toute liberté pour mieux rencontrer son public. En équipant un bus d’une scène et d’un piano, Sophie et Grégory sillonnent le Valais, la France et l’Espagne, donnant à entendre leur singulier répertoire. Ils offrent aussi depuis 2011, en partenariat avec la médiathèque de Sion, des lectures en musique qui connaissent un succès toujours grandissant auprès du public sédunois. Ces lectures sont le fruit d’une collaboration avec les comédiens et metteurs en scène Hélène Cattin et Fred Mudry.
En avril prochain, ils sortent leur premier CD intitulé” Fantaisie”, sous le label suisse Claves. Pour son vernissage, ils présenteront un répertoire de musique du xxème siècle, essentiellement écrit pour guitare et piano. Cette soirée prendra la forme d’un spectacle où ils collaboreront avec l’artiste peintre valaisan Grégoire Putallaz-Knupfer qui va créer, à partir de la musique de Fantaisie, différentes oeuvres en lien avec son rythme et sa couleur.
